For those of you who aren't familiar with the powerhouse that is Laura Willoughby MBE, Laura is one of the co-founders of Club Soda (@joinclubsoda), the world's first mindful drinking movement and general sober badass. We've been fortunate enough to work with Laura on many occasions over the last couple of years so it was a pleasure to hear her take on being LGBT+ and 8 years sober.

Reason for choosing sobriety?
I was a dick (seriously!). But once I got started I loved what I gained. So there is no reason for me to go back. Alcohol has nothing left for me!
What’s your favourite thing about being sober?
I feel like the person I was when I moved to London when I was 21. I can live my values and it feels great.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Thinking you can’t socialise sober is what stops people from trying. I would lie if I said it was instantly easy, but like everything it gets more comfortable with practice and you will be surprised how much more you can fit into your life. Weekends are actually really long!
Advice for someone who wants to give up?
Try going alcohol-free for 3 months. It is enough time for your body to adjust, your energy to come back and to have felt some fo the benefits from life in high definition. Whats the worse that could happen?
On behalf of everyone in the sober and queer community - Laura, we thank you for everything you do!
